Zelenskyy agrees with Trump to call more often and coordinate steps
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed with US President Donald Trump to call more often and coordinate steps. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I spoke with US President Donald Trump. A very good conversation. Thank you for your willingness to support Ukraine and continue to work together to stop the killings and establish a lasting and just peace," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that Trump told him about his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. According to the President, it is important that the Alliance countries try to increase defense spending.
Zelenskyy also discussed with Trump the necessary means and solutions to provide Ukrainians with more protection from russian attacks and strengthen Ukraine's positions.
"We discussed with the President the necessary means and solutions to provide more protection to people from russian strikes and strengthen our positions. We are ready to work as productively as possible to achieve peace. We agreed to call each other more often and coordinate our steps in the future," he said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Monday, Trump confirmed an agreement with NATO on the sale of weapons to be supplied to Ukraine.
In a telephone conversation with Trump on July 4, Zelenskyy discussed the capabilities of Ukraine's air defense, and the parties agreed to work on increasing the protection of the sky.
On Monday, July 14, the US President's Special Envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, arrived in Kyiv for a visit, in particular to discuss the US-NATO agreement on the supply of American-made weapons to Ukraine, which is financed by allies.
