Electricity imports to Ukraine up twice last week
In the second working week of July (July 7-11), electricity imports to Ukraine doubled compared to the previous one - to 44,000 MWh.
This is announced by the ExPro publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The report states that the largest volumes of imports are recorded in the evening peak load hours.
At the same time, export volumes decreased to 32,200 MWh.
"This indicates the critical role of intersections with the EU in balancing the system, especially against the background of limited reserves of shunting generation," ExPro comments.
Currently, imports during peak hours can exceed 1 GW, which is a significant contribution to ensuring stability.
In the current conditions, imports can again become an important component for the power system during peak consumption hours.
It is noted that the need for long-term forecasted imports puts on the agenda the development of auctions for access to interstate crossings.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in June, compared to May, Ukraine increased electricity exports 2.5 times compared to May to over 237,000 MWh.
