Ukraine signs 5 new defense agreements at Rome conference

On the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, the Ukrainian delegation signed five strategically important agreements on the development of the defense-industrial complex. They cover cooperation with partners from Italy and the United States in the chemical industry, aviation, armored vehicles, and intergovernmental cooperation.

The Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin, has announced this on Telegram.

According to him, an agreement was reached with the Italian Ministry of Defense to promote cooperation between Ukrainian and Italian defense companies – in particular, in the supply of components and raw materials.

Separately, a Term Sheet was signed between the Ukrainian Defense Industry (UDI) and the American company D&M to launch joint production of special chemicals for the manufacture of ammunition in the United States.

The UDI and the Italian association AIAD also formalized an agreement on cooperation to develop the aviation sector of the Ukrainian defense industry.

As part of expanding inter-industry cooperation, the Ukrainian Council of Armaments Manufacturers and AIAD signed a framework agreement to create a joint working group, participate in research and development, and implement joint production programs.

In addition, the Ukrainian defense enterprise and the Italian company IDV concluded an agreement on joint development and possible serial production of new military equipment.

"This is a serious strengthening of specific areas of our defense-industrial complex and an expansion of the geography of partnerships. I thank our partners from Italy and the United States for their trust, support, and openness, as well as the Ukrainian defense business for its determination and initiative," emphasized Herman Smetanin.
