50,000 russians currently operating in Sumy Axis, Defense Forces stabilized situation - Syrskyi

In the Sumy Axis, the Defense Forces have stopped the offensive actions of the russian army, the situation is currently stabilized. This was reported on Sunday, June 22, by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi in the Telegram channel.

Thus, it is reported that a group of russians is currently operating in the Sumy Axis, numbering approximately 50,000 soldiers.

"The Sumy Region. The russian group here remains approximately constant - 50,000. Thanks to our active actions in the border area, in the Kursk and Belgorod Oblasts of the russian federation, the enemy was unable to strengthen the Pokrovsk Axis with these divisions and brigades," Syrskyi stated.

The Commander-in-Chief also reported that the necessary measures are currently being taken to secure the regional center - the city of Sumy.

"We take into account the threat to Sumy, but we are taking the necessary measures to secure the regional center. In particular, a separate group has been created within the operational-tactical group, which is directly responsible for the defense of Sumy and the expansion of the system of engineering fortifications; a deputy commander of the OTG for fortifications has been appointed," the message says.

The Commander-in-Chief reported that as of June 22, the offensive actions of the russian federation have been stopped.

"The enemy's offensive actions are currently stopped along the Kindrativka-Yunakivka line, the situation has stabilized. In recent weeks, the Defense Forces have regained control of Andriivka, and in Yunakivka they have advanced from 200 to 700 meters," Syrskyi informs.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, anti-drone nets are being installed over the roads in the border area of the ​​Sumy Region due to constant attacks by russian drones, which will protect logistics and citizens from enemy attacks.
