VAT refunds increased by almost quarter in 5M

In January-May 2025, taxpayers were refunded UAH 70.9 billion of VAT on current accounts, which is 23.8% more compared to the same period last year.

This is stated in the message of the Tax Service, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

VAT refunds increased by UAH 13.3 billion compared to the same period in 2024, and by 15% (+UAH 9.3 billion) more compared to 2023.

In May 2025, taxpayers were refunded UAH 15.5 billion.

This is 22.3% (+UAH 2.8 billion) more than in May 2024.

Compared to May 2023, the figure increased by 55.9% (+UAH 5.6 billion).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction and head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, reported that the VAT refund debt to businesses amounts to over UAH 30 billion.
