Bodies of 1,212 fallen soldiers return to Ukraine – Coordination Headquarters
Today, June 11, as a result of the repatriation measures, the bodies of 1,212 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
It is reported that among the defenders returned "on the shield", the fallen were from:
- Kursk Oblast;
- Kharkiv Region;
- Luhansk Region;
- Donetsk Region;
- Zaporizhzhia Region;
- Kherson Region.
"Investigators of law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, will establish the identities of the deceased as soon as possible," the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during the second round of negotiations in Istanbul on June 2, russia and Ukraine agreed on a new release of prisoners and an exchange of the bodies of the deceased.
It was previously reported that there is a preliminary agreement with the aggressor country, russia, that prisoner exchanges should become systematic in 2025.
