Putin didn't get war in Ukraine he expected - Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that russian leader vladimir putin didn't get the war in Ukraine he envisioned. According to Rubio, putin expected the Ukrainian government to fall and he would be greeted as a liberator.

This is reported by Reuters.

"I think he's approaching this, we have to assume, with a cold, calculated cost-benefit assessment, a nation-state assessment of what would be in the best interests of his vision of russia. What I'm absolutely certain of is that this is not the war he envisioned. When he first invaded Ukraine, I think he expected the government to fall and he would be greeted as a liberator, but that's not the case. And in fact, russia controls less territory today than they did after the first two months of the war," Rubio said.

He also added that ending the conflict would allow the US to focus on other issues.

"And so it would be very helpful if we could end the war in Ukraine and with russia and Ukraine, if we could establish some stability and peace in the Middle East, if we could resolve these issues, it would allow us to focus more time, energy and, frankly, resources on some of the challenges that we face in the long term in the Indo-Pacific region and other parts of the world, but especially the Indo-Pacific region," Rubio said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also stated that the United States of America has not stopped supplying weapons to Ukraine, but there are currently no decisions on forming new packages.
