Italy to provide another SAMP/T air defense system to Ukraine

Italy has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which includes the SAMP/T air and missile defense system. This is the third battery of this complex that Ukraine has received.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto announced this for the parliamentary security committee on May 18.

In addition to the SAMP/T, Italy will provide:

• 400 M113 armored personnel carriers
• artillery ammunition
• satellite support for monitoring the movement of russian troops.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in mid-March, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera wrote, citing sources, that Ukraine had asked France and Italy to urgently provide Aster-30 missiles, which are used in SAMP/T air defense systems.

And on March 13, Reuters reported, citing its sources, that the United States was preparing to resume supplies of GLSDB bombs, which are used by Ukrainian aviation to carry out high-precision strikes on russian army targets.

On March 15, it was reported that ammunition was almost exhausted: Ukraine turned to partners due to a shortage of missiles for SAMP/T complexes.
