Ukraine's largest industrial hemp processing plant launched in Zhytomyr Region

The largest industrial hemp processing plant in Ukraine has been launched in the Ma'Rijany industrial park in the Zhytomyr Region.

This is announced in a statement by the Ministry of Economy, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that the Ma'Rijany Hemp Company restored an old flax mill and built a modern production facility with a capacity of 14,000 tons per year.

The plant will produce fiber for the European textile industry and the domestic market.

"In 2023, Ma'Rijany Hemp Company began the reconstruction of the abandoned flax mill, and in 2025 a modern high-tech production facility was built in its place," the statement says.

In 2024, the company sowed 890 hectares with industrial hemp, and in 2025 - already 1,200 hectares.

These are the largest areas of hemp cultivation in Central and Eastern Europe.

It is reported that the construction and installation of equipment has already been fully completed and testing of raw materials and the production of the first samples for customers have begun.

The production area is 10,000 sq. m, warehouse - 10,800 sq. m.

The plant will produce long fiber for textiles and technical fabrics (export, with the prospect of domestic processing for the Ukrainian fashion industry); short fiber for paper, nonwovens, insulation and tin - raw materials for bioplastics, building materials, animal bedding.

Ma'Rijany Hemp Company is a participant in the Ma'Rijany industrial park, with an area of ​​about 30 hectares.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early March, the Zhytomyr Region began the sowing campaign for the 2025 harvest and doubled the area sown with hemp.
