Ukraine received a signal from China that Beijing supports a 30-day ceasefire in russia's war against Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during a conversation with the media, which broadcasted Suspilne, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We received a signal from the Chinese side that they support the 30-day ceasefire proposed by Ukraine, as well as signals from China and other states that it would be fair to go to a complete ceasefire," Zelenskyy said.

He made it clear that Ukraine received such a signal before the visit of Chinese leader Xi Jinping to russia and his participation in the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Saturday, May 10, the leaders of France, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, after a meeting in Kyiv, issued a joint statement that from Monday, May 12, there should be a complete and unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days to create space for diplomacy.

If russia refuses a complete and unconditional ceasefire, tougher sanctions should be applied to its banking and energy sectors, targeting fossil fuels, oil, and the shadow fleet.

On May 11, the leader of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin, declared his readiness to hold direct negotiations with Ukraine on May 15 in Turkey, but he did not respond to the proposal for a ceasefire from May 12 for 30 days.
