Rada wants to establish central government control over local government

The Verkhovna Rada intends to establish central government control over local government decisions. As Ukrainian News Agency reports, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, MP from the Holos faction, announced this on his Telegram channel.

For bill No. 13150, 228 MPs voted for, with the minimum required 226.

It is proposed to supplement the law "On Local State Administrations" with a new article on ensuring the legality of acts of local government bodies.

According to the bill, ensuring the legality of acts of local government bodies and officials is carried out by law enforcement bodies:

They want to check the acts of local authorities no later than 60 days from the date of their entry into force, and local authorities will be given 20 days to correct any violations.

In the event of rejection or failure to consider the requirements by a local government body or official within the appropriate period, the law enforcement body may file a lawsuit with the court to declare the act of the local government body or official illegal.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko previously stated that the new head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, is blocking the resolution of key economic issues, and called on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to prevent the destruction of local government.
