EU High Representative Kallas and EU Foreign Ministers arrive in Lviv on Europe Day

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and EU Foreign Ministers arrived in Lviv on Europe Day, attended by delegations from 35 states and the Council of Europe. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha greeted the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas and European colleagues.

The visit began with a tribute to Ukrainian heroes who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine from Russian aggression at the Lychakivske Cemetery.

Sybiha reported on X that during the meeting with Kallas they discussed further joint efforts to strengthen Ukraine, increase pressure on russia, and promote Ukraine's accession to the EU.

He also announced two important events ahead: a meeting of EU foreign ministers and a meeting of the Core Group on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree introducing the celebration of Europe Day in Ukraine on May 9.
