Ukraine calls on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and diplomatic dialogue
Ukraine calls on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and diplomatic dialogue. This is announced in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Against the backdrop of the escalation between India and Pakistan, we call on the parties to exercise restraint and diplomatic dialogue. It is important to avoid actions that could worsen the security situation in the South Asian region and work towards a peaceful resolution of disputes," the statement says.
The Foreign Ministry notes that Ukraine actively supports all measures aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region, and advocates for an immediate easing of tensions.
Ukraine will closely monitor further developments in the situation and will continue to support international initiatives and efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in South Asia.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, India launched strikes on Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled areas of Kashmir on the night of May 7 and declared the start of Operation Sindoor. Pakistan called it an "act of war" and said it had the right to respond.
This came after India accused Pakistan of supporting militants behind an attack on tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 26 people.
This is the most intense armed clash between the two nuclear-armed countries in recent years.
