US agrees not to count previously provided aid in subsoil agreement - Shmyhal
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported that following negotiations with US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, the parties agreed: aid provided to Ukraine before signing the subsoil agreement will not be taken into account in the text of the document.
This was reported on Shmyhal's Telegram channel after his visit to the US.
"An important meeting with US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, at which a separate topic of conversation was the agreement between our countries.
Legal teams are working on the document. We are making good progress. The main thing is to clearly define our red lines, the agreement must comply with European obligations, and also not contradict the Constitution and legislation of Ukraine. It must be ratified by the parliament.
Agreements have been reached that the document does not include assistance provided before its signing," he emphasized.
Shmyhal stressed that the agreement must comply with Ukrainian legislation and the state's European obligations, as well as be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 17, US President Donald Trump suggested that an agreement on Ukrainian minerals could be signed as early as next week.
The Cabinet of Ministers has created a delegation for negotiations with the US government on the implementation of joint projects, headed by Svyrydenko.
