Ukrainian farmers sow 1,247,200 hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops

As of April 18, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine sowed 1,247,200 hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops.

This is stated in a message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The message says that, in particular, corn is already being sown in 13 regions.

The largest area of ​​crops is barley – 656,200 hectares, spring wheat has already been sown on 169,400 hectares, peas – 189,400 hectares, oats – 139,500 hectares, corn – 69,500 hectares.

Sunflowers have been sown on 244,000 hectares, sugar beets have been sown on an area of ​​142,600 hectares, soybeans – on an area of ​​16,100 hectares.

Leading regions in terms of sowing rates: the Odesa Region: 113,200 hectares (wheat – 6,500 hectares, barley – 35,200 hectares, peas – 62,000 hectares, oats – 1,500 hectares); Khmelnytskyi Region: 92,400 hectares (wheat – 10,900 hectares, barley – 74,500 hectares, peas – 2,600 hectares, oats – 2,500 hectares, corn – 800 hectares); Poltava Region: 91,200 hectares (wheat – 4,500 hectares, barley – 69,100 hectares, peas – 9,600 hectares, oats – 3,100 hectares, corn – 4,900 hectares); Ternopil Region: 90,900 hectares (wheat – 14,000 hectares, barley – 64,100 hectares, peas – 4,100 hectares, oats – 5,300 hectares, corn – 2,700 hectares); Vinnytsia Region: 82,100 hectares (wheat – 11,500 hectares, barley – 53,000 hectares, peas – 7,000 hectares, oats – 1,100 hectares, corn – 9,500 hectares).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, as of April 11, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine had sown 1,058,600 hectares of spring grain and legume crops.

In 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and legume crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.

The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat to 227,500 hectares.
