Ukraine introduces drone missile Bars with a range of up to 800 km - BBC

Ukraine has developed a new medium-range drone missile called "Bars", which is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 800 kilometers. This is a private development that is already being prepared for mass production.

BBC reports this with reference to its own sources.

The Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin first publicly mentioned the missile on April 11. He noted that over the past year, several new models of missile weapons have appeared in Ukraine, including Peklo, Palianytsia, Ruta and Bars.

Detailed characteristics of the drone missile were not officially disclosed. However, according to the BBC, Bars is equipped with a warhead weighing from 50 to 100 kilograms and a small turbojet engine.

This new development is similar in parameters to the Peklo missile. Its range is approximately 700-800 km, which allows it to be classified as a medium-range weapon. More precise tactical and technical characteristics are currently unknown.

As a reminder, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have already received the first batch of the Peklo drone missile, which has successfully undergone combat testing.

On August 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced during Independence Day celebrations that Ukraine had first used the new Palianytsia drone missile.
