China sent officers to Ukraine to observe russian war tactics - US intelligence
The Chinese government has sent members of the officer corps of its People's Liberation Army (PLA) to study russia's methods of waging war against Ukraine.
This was reported by Reuters, citing a former Western intelligence officer.
According to the source, PLA officers, stationed in the rear on russian territory, "make trips" near the russian-Ukrainian contact line. Such trips take place "exclusively with the consent" of Moscow and Beijing, the source claims. In this way, the Chinese military learns tactical lessons from the war.
Two more former US officials familiar with the intelligence said that about two hundred Chinese participating in the war on the side of the russian federation are mercenaries. Apparently, they have no "direct connection to the Chinese government," the sources said.
US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, also said that the Chinese soldiers appear to have received minimal training and have no discernible impact on military operations.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that at least 155 Chinese citizens have already been recruited into the russian army.
