Trump's tariffs could leave US without Christmas and New Year - Reuters

Chinese manufacturers of plastic Christmas trees and other holiday decorations have not yet received orders from American customers, which they attribute to the increase in tariffs on imports from China. This was reported by Reuters.

US retailers of Christmas decorations are almost entirely dependent on China. They buy about 87% of such goods worth about USD 4 billion. Chinese manufacturers are also heavily dependent on the US market, where they sell half of such goods. Orders from US customers are crucial for the business of suppliers from the PRC, and orders should have already come in, but due to the sharp increase in import tariffs, they have not.

"So far this year, none of my American customers have placed any orders," said Kun Yin, who runs an artificial Christmas tree factory in the city of Jinhua.

Some manufacturers noted that everything is happening because of the increase in tariffs, because previously they received all orders by mid-April. Some believe that American customers will not buy anything at all this year.
