Heart told: Trump explains why he suddenly postponed introduction of new tariffs

US President Donald Trump said that the decision to postpone the new tariffs for 90 days was made emotionally, without legal advice, and it was a spontaneous personal decision.

This is reported by Politico.

"Just wrote it up, I didn’t — we didn’t have the use of — we didn’t have access to lawyers … We wrote it up from our hearts, right? It was written from the heart, and I think it was well written too," Trump said.

According to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, the President wrote this message on the TruthSocial platform together with him and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Trump also noted that before announcing the decision, he had been monitoring the situation in financial markets.

"I saw last night where people were getting a little queasy … jumping a little bit," the American President noted.

He said, the last few days everything looked pretty gloomy – and then it seems to have become the biggest day in the history of finance, a pretty significant change.

Trump, as before, stressed: "No other president" would have done what he did.
