EU offers US zero tariffs on industrial goods - Von der Leyen

The European Union has offered the United States zero tariffs on industrial goods after US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs.

This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

"Europe is ready for negotiations with the US. We have offered zero tariffs on industrial goods. Because we are always ready for a good deal," the report says.

At the same time, von der Leyen stressed that the EU is also ready to respond with countermeasures and protect itself from indirect consequences through trade reorientation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in the meantime, Donald Trump-friendly American billionaire and founder of the Pershing Square hedge fund Bill Ackman called on Trump to take a timeout and review the tariff system introduced by the US President, which will come into effect on April 9.

Donald Trump's tariffs have sent Nintendo, Sony and mobile game developers into a tailspin. French winemakers are also expressing serious concerns about the 20% tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, which could deal a significant blow to an industry for which the US is a key export market.

As a reminder, Trump has officially launched a tariff, or "trade" war, against all countries, imposing duties ranging from 10% to 50% on imports, depending on the country of origin.

In particular, the United States is imposing a separate tariff of 10% on Ukrainian imports. This is the minimum basic tariff level for countries that have fallen under the new trade restrictions. At the same time, russia, North Korea, Cuba and Belarus are not on the list.

Some of the harshest tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump are targeting some of the poorest and most vulnerable countries, including those at the epicenter of civil wars and emerging from a stifling economic crisis.
