First Separate Medical Battalion created in Ukraine
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have created a special medical unit for the first time – the First Separate Medical Battalion. The new unit of the Ground Forces of Ukraine was formed on the basis of the medical service of the 1st International Legion.
The Ukrainian News agency was informed about this in the battalion's Communications Service.
The battalion combines several areas of activity: evacuation of the wounded, use of unmanned aerial systems, provision of emergency medical care and training of military personnel in the combat zone.
"The creation of a separate medical unit was necessary to scale up the organizational experience we gained during the three years of the war," said battalion commander Asan Charukhov.
The battalion's medics have significant combat experience, including providing medical support during the Kharkiv counteroffensive in 2022, combat operations on the Bakhmut axis from July 2023 to April 2024, the Kharkiv offensive in May 2024, and on the Pokrovsk axis in the summer of 2024.
"We are convinced that the quality of emergency care should not depend on the rotations of brigades and the level of development of their own medical services," said Volodymyr Kulyk, commander of the first medical company.
The new battalion is actively recruiting, inviting surgeons, traumatologists, anesthesiologists, paramedics, and medical brothers and sisters to serve. Vacancies are also open for UAV operators and ground robotic platforms. Depending on the chosen positions, medical workers and recruits are promised a cash allowance of up to UAH 120,000, full material support, specialized training, and assistance in obtaining an officer rank if they meet the requirements for the position.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last year the Aviation Center was established at the SSU.
