Defense Minister Umerov holds meeting with chiefs of military staffs of France and UK
On Saturday, April 5, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov held a strategic meeting in Kyiv with the chiefs of military staffs of France and the United Kingdom.
He reported on its results on his Facebook page.
"Together with General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Armed Forces, and Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, we held thorough consultations on security guarantees for Ukraine and the future architecture of peace in Europe," the report says.
According to Rustem Umerov, the main topic of the meeting was the involvement of partners in ensuring Ukraine's security arrangements after the end of hostilities.
"We discussed preparation and the state of operational planning to ensure that, in the event of a ceasefire, we would be able to promptly implement and execute the plans of the Coalition of the Willing. This is an important element in guaranteeing stability, preventing renewed aggression, and creating the prerequisites for the country’s recovery," the Minister noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine is ready for peace, but " this peace must be just, reliable, and protected by the power of international support."
"That is why, together with our allies, we are working to compel russia to end its aggression and respect international law. We are grateful to the United Kingdom and France for their leadership in the Coalition of the Willing, and to all its members for their unwavering support of Ukraine during the most difficult times," the Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine added.
