Musk's department will be disbanded: Trump names reason

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, will cease to exist at a certain time.

This was announced by US President Donald Trump, CNN reports.

According to the head of the White House, Musk will remain a special civil servant for only 130 days. Trump also noted that the entrepreneur will return to his business at some point.

"He needs to run a big company, and at some point he will return. I would keep him as long as I can. He is a very talented guy, you know, I like very smart people, and he is very smart, and he has done a good job. At some point, Elon will want to return to his company," the President said about the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

Answering a question about the future of DOGE after Musk's withdrawal, Trump expressed the opinion that the heads of federal agencies have already gained the necessary experience to work effectively.

"You know, at some point, I think this will end. There will come a time when secretaries can do this work and do it very, you know, as we say, with a scalpel, and that's what we want," he added.

Recall that in 2024, Elon Musk openly supported Donald Trump's election campaign, including financially, investing millions of dollars. After the Republican won the election, Musk headed the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. DOGE's main tasks were auditing, reducing the federal apparatus, and optimizing budget spending.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, in early March, US President Donald Trump put Musk in his place, reminding him that the departments are run by ministers, not the billionaire's department.

Meanwhile, Musk complained that DOGE employees receive death threats every day.
