Banks reduce cash imports by 40% to USD 1.1 billion in February

In February of this year, banks imported cash foreign currency into Ukraine in the amount of USD 1.083 billion in equivalent, which is almost 40% less than in January (USD 1.769 billion in equivalent).

This is evidenced by data from the National Bank, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

So, in February, banks imported cash dollars into Ukraine in the amount of USD 749.39 million and cash euros in the amount of USD 330.88 million in equivalent, and other currencies in the amount of USD 2.32 million in equivalent.

At the same time, banks exported cash currency in the amount of USD 147.14 million, which is 12.7% more than in January.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the record amount of currency since the beginning of the full-scale invasion was imported in January 2024 - USD 1.864 billion.

The NBU will not calculate the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the russian and Belarusian rubles and a number of other currencies. The National Bank has introduced managed exchange rate flexibility from October 3, 2023. The NBU has abolished all currency restrictions on the import of works and services and allowed the repatriation of "new" dividends.
