China expresses willingness to participate in post-war reconstruction of Ukraine
The China International Development Cooperation Agency (China Aid) has expressed its willingness to participate in post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), China Aid representative Li Ming stated this.
"China is willing to continue to provide assistance to the best of our ability, which also includes participation in the future reconstruction of Ukraine," Ming said.
He added that China will help Ukraine in accordance with the wishes of the parties.
The China Aid representative also said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the aggressor country russia, Beijing has transferred four consignments of humanitarian aid to Kyiv with a total value of USD 790,000.
The three consignments contained baby food, blankets and waterproof mats. They were delivered a few weeks after the start of the russian invasion.
And a few weeks later, China offered Ukraine USD 1.5 million in aid.
The publication notes that the statement by the China Aid representative came against the backdrop of the actions of the US presidential administration, which reformed the activities of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
SCMP writes that the reduction in USAID funding has raised concerns about a significant gap in international aid and stimulated discussions about whether China can fill this void.
Officially, China declares its neutrality in the war between russia and Ukraine, insisting that it supports normal trade with both sides and constantly calls for a ceasefire.
At the same time, the US and its allies claim that Beijing is on moscow's side, helping it circumvent Western sanctions and supplying dual-use goods used to produce weapons.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April 2023, Reuters wrote, citing its own sources, that China had been purchasing copper ingots produced in the occupied part of the Donetsk Region for at least six months.
And in September 2024, it became known that russia wants to sell coal mined in mines in the occupied territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk Regions to China.
