SSU finds that activist Hanul murder suspect is deserter
The suspect in the murder of public activist Demyan Hanul was detained in Odesa "on the run". He turned out to be a 46-year-old deserter. Among the versions of the motive for the crime, in particular, there are the contract nature of the murder and the "Russian trace".
It was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Thus, the SSU and the National Police conducted a joint special operation, during which they detained the suspect in the murder of public activist Demyan Hanul.
"According to available information, the man who shot the activist turned out to be a 46-year-old deserter", the report says.
Investigative and operational measures are ongoing. Possible motives for the crime are being worked out, including versions of the contract nature of the murder, as well as the "Russian trace".
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office under Part 2 Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder).
Demyan Hanul was a public figure, volunteer and animal rights activist, a participant in the Revolution of Dignity and Confrontation in Odesa on May 2. Among other things, he supported mobilization events and was engaged in catching evaders.
Recall that on the morning of March 14, pro-Ukrainian activist and volunteer Demyan Hanul was shot dead in the center of Odesa. The police qualified the murder of the Odesa activist as committed on order.
Minister of Interior Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported at about 4 p.m. that the man suspected of the murder of Odesa activist Hanul was detained.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to establish all the circumstances of the murder of Odesa activist Demyan Hanul.
