Trump seeks to reset relations with russia to stop war in Ukraine – Special Envoy Kellogg
US President Donald Trump is basing the strategy of ending the war against Ukraine on the need to reset relations with the aggressor country of russia.
US Special Envoy for Ukraine and russia Keith Kellogg has stated this. His words are quoted by Polska Agencja Prasova on Thursday, March 6.
According to Kellogg, Trump's approach to russia's war against Ukraine is based on a broader strategy based on resetting relations with moscow.
"There is also a broader strategy in President Trump's approach to this war, which is based on the realization that the United States needs to reset relations with Russia, (...) The previous administration had the wrong approach, when the United States did not engage with Russia and did not use strong diplomacy combined with credible deterrence to end the war," said Trump's Special Envoy.
Kellogg also stated that the Trump administration is not only putting pressure on Ukraine, but is also taking "aggressive steps to put pressure on the Russians" regarding the freezing of russian assets and sanctions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 5, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine, together with its allies, is preparing a plan for the first steps towards a just and sustainable peace.
On March 5, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said that Trump would consider restoring aid to Ukraine if peace talks are organized and confidence-building measures are taken.
Recall, on March 4, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready for peace talks.
