Macron calls for meeting of military leaders of countries ready to participate in peacekeeping mission in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron has invited to Paris the chiefs of staff of the armies of those countries ready to guarantee the security of Ukraine in the event of a possible ceasefire.

Macron made the corresponding statement today, March 5, his words are quoted by Le Monde.

Macron said that achieving peace in Ukraine may require the deployment of armed forces of European countries in the country.

He specified that French troops, if sent to Ukraine, will not take part in hostilities.

"On the contrary, they will be there as soon as peace is signed to ensure that it is fully respected," Macron said.

The French leader also announced that next week he will convene a meeting in Paris of the chiefs of staff of countries that want to take responsibility for maintaining a possible peace in Ukraine.

Macron expressed hope that the United States of America will support Europe, but "we must be ready if it is not so."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Reuters agency wrote, citing its own sources, that Ukraine, the UK and France want to prepare a plan to end the war in the coming days.
