Trump threatens to expel students who take part in "illegal protests"

US President Donald Trump is threatening to cut off federal funding for any college, school or university if its students organize "illegal protests". He threatens to deport or arrest violators.

He wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.

"Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on the crime, arrested. No masks! Thank you for your attention to this issue," the post says.

It is already known that they wants to cut funding for Columbia University worth more than USD 50 million. The Trump administration believes that it did nothing to stop anti-Israel student protests. In the District of Columbia, where the university is located, several student demonstrations were held, the participants of which condemned the escalation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

Thus, in February of this year, two students from Barnard College, affiliated with Columbia University, were expelled from their course "History of Modern Israel" for disrupting a lecture. They distributed leaflets with the slogan "Crush Zionism" with the image of a boot over a Star of David. In protest, they covered their faces with keffiyehs.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Donald Trump repeated his words about his intention to take control of Gaza and suggested allowing Middle Eastern states to rebuild parts of the territory. He believes that the only reason the Palestinians do not want to leave Gaza is the lack of an alternative.
