UAH 27 million collected by Ukrainians for nuclear weapons sent to other purposes
Monobank co-founder Oleh Horokhovskyi will transfer the money that Ukrainians collected "for a nuclear weapon" to volunteer Serhii Sternenko's "Rusoriz". In 20 hours, they managed to collect UAH 27.2 million.
Horokhovskyi wrote about this on his social networks.
"For a long time and often, the country has been ruled by leaders who put their interests above the interests of the country – this is how we lost our nuclear arsenal, Crimea, part of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, signed the Budapest Memorandum, which was actually not worth the paper it was written on," Horokhovskyi noted.
He explained that he opened the collection to show the unity of Ukrainians in the fight against the enemy. The unity of Ukrainians should be "our "nuclear weapon", which cannot be destroyed even by another nuclear weapon".
He also supported Volodymyr Zelenskyy after the scandal in the White House.
"And we definitely support the President, who reacted with dignity in a situation where they tried to ignore Ukraine's interests. It was difficult for him. Could it have been done better? It is quite possible, but it does not change the essence. Do we stop rooting for our team when it does not win the match? Once again, I admire Ukrainians – their will, endurance and strength," wrote Oleh Horokhovskyi.
Horokhovskyi said that he plans to transfer all the collected funds to the Serhii Sternenko Community for the Rusoriz. Those who do not want their money to be transferred there can contact the support service by 8:00 p.m. and return the funds.
Horokhovskyi also promised to open a new collection "for a real nuclear weapon" when the time comes.
Serhii Sternenko thanked Horokhovskyi and added that the transferred funds will go to help the Ukrainian military.
"Thank you Mr. Oleh and everyone who joined! We will be able to significantly help our units. Now there are more requests, especially from the Kursk Oblast, Bilohorivka and the Kurakhove-Pokrovsk axes," he wrote.
The main activity of the Serhii Sternenko Foundation is the purchase of FPV drones for the needs of the Defense Forces units.
Recall that the idea of the collection arose after the meeting of U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting ended in a quarrel between the presidents.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last Friday, February 28, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington to meet with Donald Trump.
It was assumed that while both leaders would conduct public and closed negotiations, representatives of Ukraine and the United States would sign an agreement on minerals.
However, during the public part of the meeting, Zelenskyy got into a fierce skirmish with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, who also took part in the conversation.
Later, Zelenskyy and Trump held a closed-door conversation, but it did not last long. As it became known later, the Ukrainian President left the White House early, and the agreement was never signed.
Recall, a few hours after the incident, Zelenskyy said in an interview with Fox News that he did not consider it necessary to apologize to Trump for their public spat.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House was not successful, and the Ukrainian leader overdid it.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope for the normalization of relations with the United States.
