Zelenskyy not offended by Trump's words about dictator

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy not offended by US President Donald Trump's words about him being a "dictator".

He said this at a press conference, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Zelenskyy noted that he has a pragmatic approach to relations with the current US administration and will continue to do so.

"I wouldn't call these words addressed to me by President Trump compliments, to put it mildly. I understand that, yes, but why be offended? The word dictator is offensive to someone who is a dictator. That's how I perceive it. So what are you going to do? Well, let's somehow live with the United States of America," he said.

Zelenskyy called himself a legally elected President who came to power through elections, not a power grab.

According to him, after the end of martial law, there will be elections where "people will make their choice".

For Zelenskyy, it is important what Ukrainians think of him.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready to exchange his post for Ukraine's accession to NATO.

On February 9, US President Donald Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" and said that Zelenskyy had convinced the US to "spend USD 350 billion on war."

Trump also wrote that Zelenskyy's approval rating had allegedly fallen to 4%, which is why Ukraine is demanding elections.

Trump also called Zelenskyy a dictator.
