NBU may deprive Poroshenko of influence over International Investment Bank
The National Bank may deprive Petro Poroshenko of influence over the International Investment Bank.
NBU has informed the Ukrainian News agency about this.
The financial regulator noted that the application of special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions – of the NSDC or in foreign jurisdictions) is a sign that contaminates (tarnishes) the business reputation of the owner.
It is universal and introduced in all markets - banking, insurance, financial companies.
According to Article 14 of the Law on Banks, owners of a significant stake in a bank must have an impeccable business reputation.
And if during the assessment of the owner's business reputation, signs of an imperfect business reputation are detected, the National Bank recognizes the business reputation of such a person as imperfect.
At the same time, such an assessment is carried out after a number of procedural actions, after which the NBU will formulate its own proposals for a measure of influence on the owner.
Potential measures of influence that can be applied both in this case and in general during supervisory activities are outlined in Article 73 of the Law on Banks and detailed in Resolution 346.
A temporary ban on voting rights is also among those measures of influence that can be applied in the event of detection of inconsistency of the business reputation of the owner of a significant stake in the bank.
Currently, according to the Inspection Plan for Financial Monitoring, Compliance with Currency and Sanctions Legislation for 2025, an on-site inspection of the International Investment Bank JSC is planned for the first quarter of 2025.
At the same time, an inspection of the International Investment Bank JSC is not planned for 2025.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Petro Poroshenko owns 64.98% of the shares of the International Investment Bank through PJSC "ZNKIF "Prime Assets Capital".
On the evening of February 12, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) imposed sanctions against Poroshenko, as well as businessmen Ihor Kolomoiskyi, Hennadii Boholiubov, and Kostiantyn Zhevaho, a former member of the Verkhovna Rada, the godfather of russian dictator vladimir putin, Viktor Medvedchuk.
