We have nothing to down missiles, there are no Patriot missiles near one of Ukrainian cities - Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country does not have Patriot air defense missiles.

The President said this at a press conference on Wednesday, February 19.

"When they said that there are no troops on the territory of Ukraine, but they have ships, air defense. The US has this air defense. Can we get 20 air defense systems? That would be enough. We do not need their maintenance, we have our own people, we will train them. Can we get licenses? Not even missiles, licenses for the production of Patriot missiles. We count every day... I apologize. 3-5 in the morning, when the commander calls me and says: "We are near this city, near this city we have no Patriot missiles. That's it, we have run out." He says that 8 missiles are approaching now, but there are no missiles for air defense systems. I think this is wrong. These are the things that make everyone nervous," he explained.

According to Zelenskyy, he asked US representatives what they could provide as security guarantees.

"You don't want to provide troops, you don't want NATO. Can we get enough Patriot systems?" he added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 1, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's words that Poland had not handed over the rest of its MiG aircraft and did not want to shoot down the missiles of the aggressor country of russia over Ukraine.

On November 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the words of Polish Vice Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, who accused Zelenskyy of trying to drag Poland into a war with the aggressor country of russia.

As we will recall, on August 30, the Polish Ministry of Defense refused to shoot down russian missiles and drones over the territory of Ukraine.
