Interpipe ships 10,000 wheels for Indian Railways
The pipe and wheel holding Interpipe shipped 10,000 railway wheels for the Indian state-owned enterprise Indian Railways, which operates the entire railway network of India.
This is stated in the holding's message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that this was a one-year contract, which provided for the supply of standard freight wheels with a diameter of 1,000 mm for gondolas and covered wagons of the BOXN Wagon type.
"A separate challenge was logistics. Most of the wheels were shipped through European seaports, while the last batches - from Ukrainian ports. The shipping crisis in the Red Sea led to an increase in transit time to India, since the new rebuilt route involved bypassing Africa. Nevertheless, all volumes of products were delivered to the client on time," the message says.
According to the director of the railway products division, Oleksandr Harkavyi, Interpipe has been cooperating with Indian Railways for almost more than 25 years.
In January, Interpipe received the next order from Indian Railways, and in general, in 2025 the company plans to double the volume of supplies of freight wheels to the Indian railway operator.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January-March 2024, compared to the 1st quarter of 2023, the pipe and wheel holding Interpipe increased its net profit by 28.4% to USD 73.391 million.
Interpipe is the largest manufacturer of pipes and wheels in Ukraine, controlling the Nyzhniodniprovskyi Pipe Rolling Plant, Novomoskovsk Pipe Plant and Nikopol Seamless Pipe Plant Niko Tube (all in the Dnipropetrovsk Region).
In October 2012, Interpipe put into operation the steelmaking complex Interpipe Steel.
The owner of Interpipe is businessman Viktor Pinchuk.
