Gerbera UAV fragments made of foam plastic, used by russia as false targets, discovered in Kyiv Region
In the Kyiv Region, local residents discovered fragments of a russian Gerbera drone. Sappers removed the remains of an enemy UAV.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported this.
Thus, local residents noticed the fragments and, suspecting that these were fragments of an enemy drone, notified the relevant services.
"Sappers of the Mobile Rescue Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed safe remains of an enemy UAV and transferred them for further research," the report says.
The State Emergency Service reminded that in case of detection of suspicious objects or fragments of downed air targets, it is necessary to call 101. Approaching or touching the finds is prohibited.
The Gerbera UAV is a drone used by the aggressor state russia, which is a cheaper and simpler version of the Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone. In particular, the drone body is made of foam plastic, and the internal components are placed in a plywood case. The Gerbera can be used as a false target, which complicates the work of air defense.
According to the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Gerbera can carry a warhead as a kamikaze and conduct electronic reconnaissance, in particular to detect air defense positions and record hits by other strike drones.
