I don't think Trump has plans to invade Canada – Waltz
U.S. President Donald Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz said on NBC News that Donald Trump has no plans to invade Canada.
He said this on NBC News.
Last week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said during a closed-door meeting with business leaders that the Trump administration "keep[s] talking about absorbing" Canada and turning it into the 51st state of the United States.
Waltz added that many Canadians "do not like the last 10 years of liberal, progressive governance in Trudeau."
"Really, what you’re seeing is a reassertion of American leadership in the Western Hemisphere, from the Arctic all the way down to the Panama Canal. And that’s what we’re talking about, from Greenland, to Arctic security to the Panama Canal coming back under the United States," the Trump’s adviser said.
He noted that the U.S. has avoided its own hemisphere for too long, where it has energy, food and critical minerals.
Recall that a few days after Trump's conversation with Trudeau, the U.S. temporarily suspended the imposition of tariffs on goods from Canada.
