I am ready for negotiations, but putin is afraid to talk to me – Zelenskyy
Ukraine is ready for diplomacy to end the war, but the russian side is looking for reasons not to do so.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this on Thursday, February 6.
Zelenskyy noted that U.S. President Donald Trump and the countries of the European Union believe that a diplomatic settlement is impossible without the aggressor country and the russian dictator vladimir putin. The President of Ukraine said that he is ready for negotiations.
"Yes, I am ready, if we have an understanding of how this war will end for us. We are ready for diplomacy. I have no problems with this here," said Zelenskyy.
Regarding the situation with the decree denying negotiations with the russian federation, the President called it a russian narrative. According to him, this is the aggressor's way of looking for reasons not to end the war.
"The problem is that it seems to me that Putin is basically afraid to talk to me about ending the war. I don't know why, he seems to be an adult. He's afraid to be alone with another person without his pack," the President noted.
Zelenskyy believes that U.S. President Donald Trump will be able to force putin to end the war.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 1, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and the russian federation, Keith Kellogg, said that the new American leader has a "reliable plan" to end russia's war against Ukraine.
On February 2, Kellogg said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed his readiness to make territorial concessions during possible negotiations with russian dictator vladimir putin.
On February 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he was ready to enter into direct negotiations with russian dictator vladimir putin if this was the only option for ending the war.
