Men in North Korea buy fake certificates not to go to war in Ukraine
In North Korea, people are bribing doctors to avoid being sent to war in Ukraine. For this, citizens of the DPRK spend huge sums of money, amounting to more than a hundred times the average monthly salary.
This is reported by the American publication Newsweek.
Relatives of men in the DPRK are paying doctors for fake tuberculosis diagnoses so that they are not sent to fight in Ukraine on the side of russia. At the same time, the price for issuing such documents has increased fivefold: from USD 100 to USD 500.
The publication notes that this is a staggering amount, since the average salary of a civil servant in North Korea is from KPW 5,000 to KPW 10,000 won per month, which is USD 1-3.
It is also known that, according to estimates by the World Health Organization, the DPRK has one of the highest rates of tuberculosis in the world. As of 2023, there were 513 cases per 100,000 people.
