OPEC+ not responds to Trump's call to increase production to lower oil prices — Reuters

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) did not respond to calls from U.S. President Donald Trump to increase production to lower world prices for "black gold".

It was reported by Reuters.

According to official statements and sources of the agency, Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman held talks with his colleagues from Iraq and Libya.

With Libyan Khalifa Abdulsadek, the Saudi Minister discussed "strengthening joint efforts to support the stability of global energy markets". And with the representative of Iraq - "cooperation to achieve mutual interests".

Two unnamed sources told Reuters that Abdulaziz bin Salman also held an informal meeting with the Minister of Energy of the United Arab Emirates, Suhail al-Mazrouei.

Five OPEC+ delegates told the agency that the meeting of the group's top ministers on February 3 is unlikely to adjust the current plan to start increasing oil production from April this year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 23, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he intends to ask OPEC countries to lower oil prices, since a decrease in the cost of "black gold" would make it possible to end the war between russia and Ukraine.

As we will recall, on January 22, Trump published an appeal to russian dictator vladimir putin, urging him to immediately end the war. Otherwise, the U.S. will strengthen sanctions against russia and impose high duties on all russian exports.
