If half of army goes home, we should have surrendered on first day – Zelenskyy
Mobilization is underway in Ukraine and a sufficient number of recruits aged 25 and over are being recruited into the army. The military has the right to rotations and vacations, but demobilization is currently impossible and work needs to be done on the quality of this process.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with the newspaper Il Foglio.
"Mobilization is underway and it mobilizes a fairly large number of people. They have rotations or vacations, but, of course, this is not enough. We need to work on the quality of this. And there is the question of how to return home and not return to the front again. Of course, there are such requests. However, this is not provided for by law today," he said.
The President noted that martial law provides for the mobilization of people and all resources - according to the law, people aged 25 and over are mobilized.
"And this, unfortunately, is the challenge of this war and why we need to quickly force Russia to end it. We are defending ourselves today. If tomorrow, for example, half of the army simply goes home, then we should have surrendered on the first day. If tomorrow half of the people return home, Putin will kill us all," Zelenskyy said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that future peace talks will involve Ukraine, the United States, European countries, and russia.
Recently, Reuters reported that russian dictator vladimir putin is allegedly ready for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump on Ukraine, as well as on nuclear disarmament. Currently, the kremlin is "waiting for signals" from the United States.
