Iranian President arrives in moscow for talks with putin
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in the aggressor country of russia for talks with dictator vladimir putin, Anadolu Agency reported on Friday, January 17.
Pezeshkian's plane landed at Moscow's Vnukovo-2 airport in the morning, where a Russian delegation led by Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, and Head of the State Protocol Department of the Foreign Ministry Igor Bogdashev were waiting for him.
Pezeshkian and putin are expected to sign the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Iran and russia.
According to The East Eye, one of the key points of the agreement is territorial integrity, which is especially important for Iran due to the United Arab Emirates' persistent claims to three islands in the Persian Gulf, which Iran has controlled since 1971.
"This clause, however, does not include recognition of Crimea, which Russia seized from Ukraine in 2014, or other disputed regions," the report said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 23, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said he sought talks with the West over russia's war against Ukraine, which he condemns as "aggression."
On September 17, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that since he took office, the country had not transferred weapons to russia.
On September 6, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States had warned its allies that Iran had transferred ballistic missiles to russia.
