Biden mentions Ukraine in his farewell speech

U.S. President Joe Biden, in his short farewell speech in the Oval Office, mentioned Ukraine among the foreign policy achievements of his administration, emphasizing the importance of strengthening NATO.

According to CNN, Biden spoke on the eve of the end of his presidential term, summarizing the achievements and expressing hope for the lasting effect of his work.

"It will take time to feel the full impact of what we’ve done together. But the seeds are planted and they’ll grow and they’ll bloom for decades to come," he said.

Among the achievements, Biden mentioned the reduction in drug prices for the elderly, the adoption of gun safety laws, assistance to veterans and significant successes in foreign policy.

"Ukraine is still free, and we’ve pulled ahead of our competition with China and so much more," Biden noted.

Earlier, Biden, summing up his administration's foreign policy, mentioned russia's war against Ukraine and reiterated that moscow had not achieved its "strategic goals."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Biden had his last telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the day before. The Ukrainian leader thanked the current U.S. President for his assistance to Ukraine and also hinted at providing additional air defense systems.
