Almost million Ukrainians reserved from mobilization - Shmyhal

In Ukraine, the number of citizens reserved from mobilization is from 900,000 to 950,000.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at the "hour of questions to government" in the Verkhovna Rada, which was broadcast by Oleksii Honcharenko, MP from the European Solidarity faction, on his Youtube channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"As of today, less than a million have been reserved, not to give an exact figure. Between 900,000 and 950,000 people," he said.

Shmyhal considers such a number of people reserved to be acceptable, according to him, such reservation figures have been recorded for a long time and do not affect the process of mobilization processes that the General Staff needs.

"This is an acceptable figure, it has been recorded for a long time and does not affect the process of mobilization processes that the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense needs," he explained.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 26, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 1498, which provides for the reservation of military service for military-obligated clergy. A mechanism, according to which religious organizations are classified as critically important institutions, in which the reservation of all employees is allowed, applied.

At the same time, according to the text of the resolution, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience must determine the criteria by which a particular organization will be classified as critically important, as well as a list of clergy positions for which "reservation" is allowed.
