Only 2 kilometers remain from Kupiansk to front line, situation difficult – city administration

The front line has approached Kupiansk by two kilometers, the situation around the city remains extremely difficult.

The head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, Andrii Besedin, reported this during a telethon.

He noted that the enemy is constantly trying to carry out assault operations. Yesterday alone, there were more than 12 assault operations on the Petropavlivka-Holubivka axis. This axis belongs to the central part of the city of Kupiansk.

"The enemy is trying to reach the main Svatove-Kupiansk highway, in order to then reach the city itself. The situation is also very difficult on the Zahryzove-Lozova-Kruhliakivka axis. There, the enemy is constantly carrying out assaults to reach the left bank of the Oskil River," Besedin said.

The enemy is close, the front line is two kilometers from the city of Kupiansk. The shelling does not stop from all types of weapons that the enemy has: mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems of various modifications, guided aerial bombs and FPV drones, which the enemy uses in large numbers, hitting logistical routes, central supply routes, preventing, in particular, the delivery of humanitarian aid and the free movement of the civilian population.

It is said that the situation on the left bank of the Kupiansk community has remained critical for more than three months. More than 900 people remain there in difficult conditions, mostly elderly people, who categorically refuse to evacuate.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last day, on January 2, the occupiers carried out assault operations on the Kharkiv and Kupiansk axes, which led to the destruction of some positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The russian occupiers are attempting to cross the Oskil River in the west of the Kharkiv Region. The Ukrainian military is preventing them from doing so.
