Ukraine is ready to share with Syria its experience in collecting evidence, investigating and working to bring war criminals to justice for the crimes committed.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that on Monday, December 30, during a visit to Syria, Sybiha held talks in Damascus with the leadership of the Syrian administration - its leader Ahmad al-Sharaa, Prime Minister Mohamed Al-Bashir and Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Sheibani.

Sybiha congratulated the Syrian people on the victory of the Revolution, noting that this is a historic moment for Syria, which gives great hope for revival after many years of suffering.

The Minister emphasized that this is the first visit of an official Ukrainian delegation to Syria in many years, which symbolizes the readiness to open a new page in bilateral relations between the countries.

The Foreign Minister specified that Ukraine is ready to open a new page in bilateral relations, this concerns the possible creation of joint ventures, the establishment of production of industrial and food products, the exchange of technologies, interaction in the areas of cybersecurity and information protection.

Sybiha reported that on December 31, Syria will receive 500 tons of Ukrainian flour within the framework of the humanitarian program "Grain from Ukraine", this amount of flour will be enough to meet the needs of more than 33,000 Syrian families or 167,000 people for a month.

"This is the first batch of free humanitarian aid. We are ready to deliver more," he emphasized.

Sybiha expressed hope that the new Syria will become a country that respects international law, in particular the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, according to him, this will pave the way for the restoration of diplomatic relations, political dialogue and the work of diplomatic institutions.

The Foreign Minister expressed his belief that the elimination of the russian presence in Syria in a strategic perspective will contribute to the stability not only of the Syrian state, but also of the entire Middle East and Africa, even if this process will take time.

"The russian and Assad regimes supported each other, because their foundation is violence and torture. We are ready to share the experience of collecting evidence, investigating and working to bring war criminals to justice for the crimes they committed," he emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Sybiha previously reported on the social network X that he had delivered a message from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the new leader of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in Damascus (Syria).
