Azerbaijan Airlines names cause of Embraer 190 crash

Azerbaijan Airlines said its Embraer 190, which crashed in Kazakhstan on December 25, suffered physical and technical external interference before the crash.

It was indicated in a statement of the company's press service published on December 27.

The company said that from December 28 it will stop operating flights to eight airports in russia: Mineralnye Vody, Sochi, Volgograd, Ufa, Samara, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod and Vladikavkaz.

"This decision <...> is based on the preliminary results of the investigation into the crash of the Embraer 190 <...> due to physical and technical external interference and considers potential risks to flight safety," the statement said.

The company added that the suspension will be in effect until the final investigation into the Embraer 190 crash is completed.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Euronews channel wrote, citing sources, that the Embraer 190 crashed as a result of being hit by a missile fired from the air defense system of the russian army.

As a reminder, the Azerbaijani parliament called on russia to admit its involvement in the plane crash and apologize for the incident.

At the same time, the kremlin has not commented on the situation for the second day, arguing that it is necessary to wait for the completion of the investigation into the crash.
