Zelenskyy confirms receipt of IRIS-T air defense system from Germany

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed in his traditional evening video address that Germany has delivered the sixth IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.

He published the corresponding video on his page on Facebook.

"We have now returned from Brussels with new agreements on air defense. Germany has also already transferred an additional IRIS-T system. Thank you," Zelenskyy said.

He also thanked other partners of Ukraine, who are responding to the latest massive russian shelling with their readiness to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system.

We will remind, on December 20, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Berlin had delivered another IRIS-T SLM (medium-range) air defense system to Kyiv.

Scholz also assured that by the end of the year, Germany will transfer two more IRIS-T SLS systems, which have a short range, to the Ukrainian army.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 19, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine needs 19 more air defense systems to protect the energy system from russian attacks. We also wrote that in November of this year, Ukraine received the NASAMS air defense system from Canada.
