UK admits that its army will be finished in 6-12 months in event of full-scale war
If the UK enters a full-scale military conflict similar to the russian-Ukrainian war, its army will be destroyed in 6-12 months.
According to Politico, this was stated by the Minister for Veterans and the Population at the Ministry of Defense of the UK, Alistair Carns.
According to him, the current size of the British army implies that its forces will be incapacitated within 12 months if a conflict similar in scale to the war in Ukraine begins.
He noted that about 1,500 soldiers of the russian occupation army are killed or wounded on the front lines in Ukraine every day.
"In a war of this scale, at the current rate of losses, it will be spent - as part of a wider multinational coalition - in a period of six months to a year," the minister said.
Carns added that the presence of a high level of reservists is a critical and absolutely central decision. Without them, the British army will not be able to solve many defense tasks.
According to the information of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, as of 2022, the country's armed forces employed just under 200,000 people. And according to data for 2023, the British army had 37,500 people in reserve.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in June 2024, the British newspaper Financial Times wrote, citing its own sources, that the armed forces of NATO countries are catastrophically short of soldiers. In the event of a military conflict, out of 3.2 million people existing on paper, the alliance will be able to field only 300,000 soldiers.
As we recall, in April of this year, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said that European Union countries need to increase investments in the security and defense sector, the deficit of which amounted to more than EUR 56 billion.
