Shabunin's partner in Anti-Corruption Action Center backs in Verkhovna Rada reduction of requirements for selection of judges for HACC – media
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Action Policy, Anastasiya Radina, has backed the law, which, according to the head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, Vitalii Shabunin, will open the way for corrupt officials to courts of appeal and the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC).
Zakon i Biznes (Law and Business) reports this.
Thus, Radina, who before being elected as a Member of Parliament for a long time had been the head of advocacy programs of the Anti-Corruption Action Center and Shabunin's partner, voted twice for the project "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges" regarding the features of passing the qualification exam (No. 11425-d) – in the first and second readings.
"It removes the threshold in testing candidates for judges for cognitive abilities – a very complicated IQ test," Shabunin was outraged, claiming that the authorities allegedly "need to lower this score in order to push their people (corrupt people are not often distinguished by high intelligence) in competitions for courts of appeal and the High Anti-Corruption Court.
"Therefore, from Shabunin's words it follows that the head of the anti-corruption committee voted in favor of corrupt people who want to get into courts of appeal and the High Anti-Corruption Court," the publication writes.
Recall that earlier Radina also backed a bill that would allow corrupt officials who have made a deal with the investigation to avoid confiscation of property.
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a number of criminal cases against Shabunin, in particular, on evasion of mobilization, forgery of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) documents, illegal use of humanitarian aid, and appropriation of a Nissan Pathfinder jeep that was transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
