Teachers will have deferral from mobilization without new criteria - Education Committee head Babak

A Verkhovna Rada member from the Servant of the People faction, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovations Serhii Babak assures that teachers will have a deferral, regardless of their academic degree.

He said this in an interview with the Ukrainian News agency.

"There will be no changes. It seems to me that the law on mobilization is fair enough in our part now, in my opinion. It is balanced: it removes the maximum potential risks and gives a deferral to all those who really need it. I do not see the need for changes. And there is no such request. As it is now, you can, in principle, calculate everything and it will remain," - this is how he answered, whether criteria for deferral of teachers and lecturers of vocational schools can be introduced.

He reported that the presence of an academic degree for teachers of higher education institutions for deferral remained.

"Honestly, we saw this risk and discussed it. Sorry, but in a private university they can open any number of vacancies. In public ones it is more problematic, because they have certain restrictions," he explained the presence of such a criterion among university teachers.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Babak is convinced that there is no need to introduce safeguards for admission to a master's degree program similar to postgraduate studies regarding the abuse of deferrals.
